It's been ten years since the fall of humanity. I was only ten years old when the zombies took over. The military told us to flee underground, explaining that it was safer. The zombies are smart, too smart. They can learn to hide themselves. Some of them disguise themselves to look like normal people. We tell them apart by checking their eyes. A disease broke out where only grown-ups were infected. Kids 14 and under were safe. The disease made the grown-ups flesh eating zombies. Kids would just wake up and get attacked by their parents, just like Kevin and his sister, Lissette. Thier mother attacked them, and Kevin had to put a knife through her heart, never forgetting her face when she died. Now that the world turned to shit, the siblings must survive, maybe making a few friends on the way. But who knows what will happen, the enemy is always around.

A seven year old girl trying to survive the zombie apocalypse in a fairly small city in rural New Mexico. This is the third in my short story series taken from the universe created for my first book. Ardamin: Clone #7. These short stories are more horror focused than the main book. But how can you tell the story of a zombie apocalypse without some horror? This story is unedited and first draft as keeping with my first two short stories posted to Instagram and therefore will not be polished or fixed with multiple drafts leading to an end product. This story was meant to be raw or just as it poured from my head. Spelling and punctuation errors are only to be expected, if the cause you some offence well... that's just the way this story was made. It is not meant to be refined but like living such a scenario would be, rough.

First, the video came. Just 2 months after is was taken off. The next day MeToob shut down. The day after that the internet stopped working. Then the power left. Then, came the virus. It infected everyone that came in bodily contact with it. Some of the ones who get it simply die off, but if you're unlucky enough to hold the infection... you become a heartless beast that will eat any flesh it comes into contact with. They will eat anything... even humans. Join Jack Smith, and his friends, as they try to escape the horrors of Union City, New Jersey and try to make it to the on Union Island before the last evacuation flight takes off. But as you may find that people become different in a crisis... And that could mean the difference between life and death.

If you told me when I was 14 that the last birthday party I was going to have was at a local pizza hut, I never would have believed you. Looking back, before the infection ripped apart mine and billions of others families, I probably should have acknowledged those moments I shared with friends and family with more love than I did. Now everyday was a mission just to be left breathing at the end of it. Not knowing why I was the only one in my family to be left with the torment of survival. I had to rely on any prayers left in me that I wouldn't become food for the dead.
