Peter was the one who was imprisoned and escaped. I know it's unrealistic but honestly, it's a story. It doesn't have to make much sense. Sirius became a teacher with Remus. Sadly, Harry was still given to his aunt and uncle due to Dumbledore handing him over before Sirius had his name cleared, then claimed that Sirius wasn't mentally stable enough to handle Harry. Ron still has a pet rat; this one is just not Pettigrew. A handful of these boggarts are not canon! They are what I thought they could have been if they had a bit more mental issues than shown in the books/movies.
