Behind the guise of free will, they control every life of Mistlyn, shaping every soul into identical copies of one another. The general population obeys without a second thought. Those who don't are sent to The Stand where they must try to convince a room of fifteen people that they deserve to be released without punishment. When Anastasia begins to hear rumors of a group attempting to overthrow The Board, she finds herself swept up into the frontline of a rebellion.
