Peter & Tris didn't first meet when they both picked Dauntless. Truth is, they used to be in love. 15, dumb, and in love. But due to Peter's budding alcoholism at the early age of 15, almost 16, he ends it with the warm hearted and sweet Tris Prior, stating that he doesn't deserve her. After that, Peter grew bitter, and created ambitions to be at the top (no matter what the cost), hoping to forget about her. Tris became tough, and brave, shielding intimacy with any boy in order to prevent the heartbreak she suffered. When they both find out they have picked Dauntless, they awkwardly agree to pretend not to know each other, for the sake of having to retell a painful story over and over again. Will these two former love birds keep quite and find new love? Or will their remaining unspoken feelings for each other resurface?
