The only thing in life Sherlock had ever wanted was a family, though as he progresses through stages of life and heartbreak he begins to realize that he cannot make one for himself in the normal fashion. To have a family is to be loved unconditionally, and in Sherlock's eyes the only way to gain the trust of another human is to be with them from the start. The choices he makes and the mistakes along the way lead him into the midst of a suburban neighborhood, trying his hand at fatherhood while acting like a child himself.

A home can be made in any old building, though when the Watsons move into an abandoned church they discover that not all past uses can be erased. With the mournful statues of saints hiding in the shadowed corners and the lingering smell of candle smoke, the foreclosed church begins to feel more like a hallowed out irony than any place to start a family. More troublesome than not, the stubborn priest still lives next door, his smug face peering through the curtains to judge the 'heathens' who had taken over his place of worship. However Father Holmes may not be prepared to have such young, enthusiastic neighbors. Until, of course, a bothersome creature from Hell decides to step in and make them a bit more compatible. Johnlock
