To have a family is to be loved unconditionally, and in Sherlock's eyes the only way to gain the trust of another human is to be with them from the start. The choices he makes and the mistakes along the way lead him into the midst of a suburban neighborhood, trying his hand at fatherhood while acting like a child himself.
