Avery Hawley can't answer a single one of these questions, and not because of lack of ideas or opinions. She has plenty of those.
She lacks one thing ever since that fateful summer after 10th grade, when she became a victim to violence and lost what she realized was the most important part of herself: her voice.
At first, she was optimistic. But when her life took an even darker turn, where she began losing everyone and everything precious to her, Avery began losing herself, starting with her voice and soon her dreams- her will to live.
Until one day, a new student joins the eleventh grade at Crescent High- Layla Rasheed. Layla is beautifully optimistic and daring, with a dose of wit and wisdom. Can she help Avery recover and make her whole before Avery falls too far into the abyss she made for herself?
