Author's note:

I am writing this for purely selfish reasons. I am currently in therapy for PTSD and it is influencing my intimate relationship with my boyfriend. Despite the fact we have been dating for two and a half years and by no means is this our first time at the rodeo in terms of dating and sex, I am learning how to be intimate with someone in a meaningful and healthy way. I thought potentially if I wrote through my recovery, I'd be able to channel some feelings and frustrations that I also noticed my two favorite fictional characters experience. Like Severus and Hermione, there's an age difference between my boyfriend and myself, and we are both stubborn. Still, there is a lot of love. I wanted to see what would happen as Hermione and Severus worked on their relationship as I am, and fell in love anew. Oh, and had mind-blowing sex.

Two more notes:
This story picks up after the marriage of Hermione and Severus, about a few months since they were married in a sterile Ministry office in a quick ceremony. We all know the tropes about forced marriage from the Ministry of Magic, and the awkwardness/drama that ensued. There's so many more stories out there that encapsulate this part of the fanfic canon than I ever will, so please adopt your favorite opener. I promise I'll go back to some pieces via flashbacks, but for all intents and purposes, Hermione and Severus are begrudgingly married. At this point in their marriage, as the story begins, they have not been sexually intimate. That will obviously change.
