Madeline is stuck, trapped on the small island off the Washington coast where she was born. Feeling tied to her duty to her father and his struggling restaurant, she cannot begin to count all that she has given up in favor to this duty--men, friends, dreams. Marshall arrives on the island in a blur of escapism and avoidance. Broken-hearted and feeling unable to live up to his father's wishes for him to join the family law firm and fading away in the shadow of his superstar older brother, he sees a chance to get away and he takes it. Madeline and Marshall quickly form an irreplaceable, inescapable bond but soon the time will come when Marshall has to leave her too. He can't stay on the island forever. Right? ********* i. Juliette Brown. Not broken, shattered. Barely living anymore she fights off the demons and darkness that comes from the seemingly never ending abuse. That cliff edge calls her but rooted to the spot she prays for someone to see her, she tries to feel worth saving. Parker Jones. He screwed up, nobody gets the true struggles behind the troublesome image. He knows too much pain and just wants to get through this in any way he can. He might be the miracle success on the outside but he's given up too much for it. He sees the girl screaming for help but how can he save anything when he is in just as much of a mess as her? He'll try. Two people thinking that there is little left in a world that just destroyed everything you could care about. Parker promises that he'll try to show the shattering girl that she is worth trying to save.
