They haven't lost him.... but they haven't won, either. As he lays suffering, the crew struggles to find out anything about the monster that would do such a thing. But nothing. No steps taken in the right direction... The tension in the atmosphere suddenly becomes more choking, day by day, affecting everyone involved. With growing aggression and lack of sleep, the crew is desperate to solve the case before Dr. Mallard comes back. Would it be winning? No, they've already lost... but it will be something.

(This is mainly an angsty Tate - KatexTony - fanfic, with the plot revolving around their interactions with each other and everyone else in the team once the atmosphere of the office is more desperate and hostile. If you don't like Tate, then don't read! This is set someplace in Season 2.)

The BAU team gets called to Elroy, Wisconsin to investigate murders of five young people, three women and two men in their twenties, having nothing but their appereance in common. The thing disturbing to most of the team is the fact all the victims look similiar to someone they know. Hotch orders Reid to stay at the station because he's worried about te doctor. The unsub is one of the most difficult ones the team had to deal with so far, so after the team, excluding the young doctor, and most of the officers leave to arrest possible suspect, they find it was a fake call, they come back to devasted place, the officers that stayed behind all lying on the floor, not remembering anything that has happened since their colegues left, and of course everyone's worst fear came true, the unsub got Reid. Later two other bodies are found, one female and one male, neither of them being able to get identified, until the unsub is caught, when getting asked about the FBI agent's wherabouts only replies with "Thought you would find him by now" while having satisfied smirk on his face. No one can tell wheter the unsub is bluffing or not, and as much as the team wishes he was, while discovering the unsub's hideout they find some of his victims alive, their worst fear being confirmed. Alex just left Nigel with only leaving a message on a note, telling him he probably comes back - only if possible. Obviously this is a hit in the face for Nigel. The first few months are terrible, and it only gets worse as he gets no word from Alex. No sign of him that could possibly give him some strength to go on. After more months, he loses his hope, killing everyone around as if that would make anything better. Nigel gets locked up in an asylum, declared for mentally unstable: charged for many, many murders. And since he doesn't ages, they keep him for experiments. Since they are very religious in there, they believe it's the Devil his son. After eight years, somehow Nigel keeps seeing this blonde-reddish boy visiting him. He tells him stories, being all cheeky and forces him to wait. The doctors around are trying anything to get that boy out of Nigel his mind, and when they don't succeed, they decide to use electroshock therapy for that. As Nigel threats to lose Alex, the connection between the two fades a lot. Alex has barely enough strength to stay around, and gets forced to find a body before he disappears forever. Strangely enough a patient passes by during Nigel his therapy. A suspicious girl that always wants to know everything that's going around. Since she is the only weak person of them all in a near distance, Alex gets into her body - being forced to share it with another soul.
