"You don't belong here, human." Nyla Mandel is a jaded and depressed twenty year old barista who is planning to get the heck outta her Pennsylvania hometown, hit the Appalachian trails, and end her life among the peace and quiet. One evening, she is saved from a vampire attack by a werewolf named Zeke Vander who takes her to his unorthodox Vander clan, which includes a witch and two men called falcons. The supernatural world survives only by remaining a complete secret from human society in our modern world of 1997. The Vander clan must withstand mounting pressures from a clan called the Silverbloods - a mafia of elitist vampires. These young adults struggle to protect their bright futures from the vampiric demons poised to bite them off at the knees.
