She realizes soon that life will never be the same, nor would she want it to be. She discovers the world she once knew may not have been what she believed as she learns she has her own secrets.

Shanda is saved, from the depraved place that she has been held as prisoner and slave since that fateful night, by Claude Faustus. Despite the constant threat of Alois Trancy, she feels safe under the protection of Claude. She is immediately intrigued by his enigmatic nature as her true nature is revealed to both of them.
