Today was the day, the day of the reaping. The reaping is when one courageous teenage woman and man would compete for their lives in a killing game called the hunger games. There is only one winner and the winner is usually from district 1. I'm from district 12, the lowest district. Today is the day of that random choosing and of course like every year, the butterflies begin to come into my stomach. I'm sixteen years old , the youngest to be chosen is 12 and the oldest is 18.
" welcome, welcome! To the 74th annual hunger games!" Says Effie trinket with excitement into her voice.
"Today is the day of our choosing of one courageous young man and woman to fight in the hunger games. As usual , ladies first." She walks over to the glass ball filled with all of the girls names from district 12. She slowly moves her hand around each name and finally picks one. As she pulls back both sides of the name tag, she taps the mike and says,

One minute she was fighting Valg, the next in a house she doesn't know, clothes she doesn't own, and about to walk down to a square full of people to be reaped. After volunteering for a girl she doesn't know, shoving the girl's sister back, and fighting the Valg she thought she left behind on stage, Aelin-or Celaena-is officially in the Hunger Games. Suzie is just a normal girl from district 2 whos family has died because of the cruel Capitol, and all she wants is to do is be with them again. She figures the best way to finally be with her family again is to volunteer for the hunger games. Then someone else could kill her and she wouldn't have to kill herself. Also her father was in the games and she wanted to make him proud. So she comes up with a plan to go around all the districts gathering different types of skills and once she gets back to district 2 she will volunteer. Making her father proud was the thing she loved to do the most. Her father was her idol. But she doesnt have to volunteer. Suzie Timmer thought she would never get chosen at the reaping because she is not apart of any of the districts except district 2. But the Capitol figures out her plan, they figure out what she has been doing, so they purposly pull her name out at the reaping in district 4... Aren Harker wasn't sure on whether he would be okay with being reaped or not. No one wanted to, but if your name was drawn there was no option. His family barely having food on the table most days, he wanted to be able to provide them with more for themselves in his absence. He wasn't sure how his parents would react if their second child was reaped, just as their first had been. Aren's sister had been reaped 10 years prior, for the 58th games, and she didn't make it past the first 24 hours. He worried if his own name was drawn his fate would be similar.
