America and Russia are complete opposites of each other-or, at least, that's what everybody believes. One of them has been faking it. Who? America. Why? He feels as though he has to put up a mask to hide his distress over the effects 8 month's worth of nightmares has caused him. He doesn't want to feel as though he were a burden to whoever knew, and he felt that virtually nobody would care anyway. He was doing good for a while, with the whole hiding thing, until Winter Break ended. Everything only went downhill from there. His cover started slipping, and people started noticing. This included Russia, who had been paired with America for the grading period. Neither knew much of anything about the other, mostly going off of assumptions, and yet he still noticed something was off. He wasn't acting as, well, annoying as usual. What will happen when America finally breaks? Will his fears come true, or will things take a completely different direction for him? -------------------------------------------------------- here's a warning: This book contains self-harm, depression, suicidal thoughts, cursing (major & minor), perhaps an attempted suicide, and gore. If any of this is a sensitive topic/trigger for you, please turn away now. If you're okay with this, then please continue on. All art you will see in this book is probably going to be created by me, including the cover. The cover is a little old, though, so I'm going to fix it up soon.

COMPLETED ✔️ "You really want to lose your life?" I snap, pressing the knife until a thick bead of blood appears. Josh doesn't flinch. If anything... he gets harder. "Try me," he says against my mouth-soft, intimate, deadly. For a second, I forget what I'm doing-caught in the way he smells, the heat of his body, the quiet hunger in his eyes. His hand snaps to my wrist, twisting with ease. The knife drops. "Next time you reach for a knife..." His breath ghosts down my neck. "I'll reach for my gun." *** Kate has perfected the art of pretending. At home, she's the innocent daughter, playing her role flawlessly. Beneath the surface, she's a rebel shaped by trauma, driven by a need to control before anyone can hurt her first. When Josh-her mother's new boyfriend-moves in, Kate decides to pull him into her web, expose whatever he's hiding, and push him out of their lives for good. Even though Josh makes her feel things she shouldn't, Kate knows she can't let herself slip. A reserved lawyer with a past he's desperate to keep buried, Josh came into Kate's life because of her. Whatever he knows, whatever he's running from, he's determined to keep it hidden, including his growing feelings. He wants to do the right thing. To be loyal. To be a good person. But when Kate starts digging too deep, Josh realizes he'll do anything to stop her-even if it means breaking her piece by piece.
