Years ago the kingdom fell ill. Killing many, changing a few. A boy named Dreu is alone, learning and hiding from what the present king is doing, killing all the children who were changed. The 'marked' or 'tainted' children have powers or special abilities of sorts, no one knows where they came from but they do know they are defenceless against these kids. Dreu is 16, afraid, and fighting for his life. He meets friends, loses them, and finds enemies along the way. Another boy named Atlas came into his life through a series of unfortunate events.
