Suppose there really were monsters.  Not living in your closet or under your bed.  But real people who lived in your house.  As a child you accepted them, because you had no choice.  Now, you, as an adult with our own home, they came back and moved right in.  How else would you explain the drawing of someone you don't remember creating that someone else recognizes?  A drawing someone would pay dearly to possess.  All these questions came to mind because Sarah would swear she lived alone.
