In mere moments, Erik grasped Christine by the waist and pulled her under his protective dark cloak. There, pressed against his chest he moved into the shadows of the wings, Christine blinked at the sudden darkness, grasped Erik's firm arm around her waist with her hands, then struggled to see what was happening through the thick folds of his cloak. "Come out ghost!" A slurred voice called out. "I know you're there, and that pretty ballet rat too." This is a ROUGH DRAFT of my fanfiction of Phantom of the Opera. Raoul's older sibling returns to Paris and is instantly fascinated by the Phantom, Erik in turn is just annoyed to have one more de Chagny in the picture. So they go for a hunt, each with their own motives. It turns out differently as each of them expected. This story begins at the end, kinda. ------------------ This is an older story of mine I overhauled and therefore already finished! Rating: NC-17 hetero Genre: Romance Pairing: E/OC Words: around 10'000 Status: Complete Warnings: Wild mix of all the phantom-verses, mainly Kay and definitely AU A lot of OOC'ness from Raoul's and Philippe's part (even if we never see him in persona). The Persian too and Erik... Oh heck, Erik... Erik is just my version Erik. Means, he's a medley of all the Eriks/Phantoms I know in literature, films, musicals mixed with a good brush of my own dirty, insane, phantasies and memories. But, he always looks like Leroux/Kay Erik, only his eyes just reflect in the dusty light of darkness and seem to be yellow-cattish; in peaceful daylight they're from the color like of the midnight-sky, with golden sparkles, like falling stardust... With this I bid you goodbye and let you read...

The choices we made
The choices have been made. Erik let Christine and Raoul go. A falling chandelier caused a fire. The Opera Garnier went up in flames. Christine and Raoul try to get out of the opera as quickly as possible. Due to one impulsive decision, the engaged couple were separated by fire. With that, Christine was stuck in the burning opera house. Erik, suspecting that his beloved was left at the opera, does not hesitate and returns to find and save her. Because of one decision, their fates became entangled again. Will Erik fight to win Christine's heart? Can Christine forgive her Angel of Music years of lies and manipulation? And, will her love for Raoul survive?

"Christine, I love you." The phantom's voice played a sweet tune in my mind. It was the first time he had confessed his love, but sadly, I couldn't return the favor. He had given me everything, fame, fortune, and a life of excitement and curiosity. Still, he had threatened to hang my beloved Raoul and sentence me to an eternity locked away from the world. My clammy hands shook with emotion as I slid the beautiful, diamond ring off my finger. The disfigured man helplessly gazed into my eyes, transforming my soul. I was the only one to look past his hideous physical appearance, to know how to comfort a creature of darkness; I couldn't bare holding in my emotions any longer. Tears plunged down my pale cheeks and I looked down to take his hand. Making sure not to drop the small item, I closed his rough fingers around the ring. "Goodbye," all sadness echoing through my word. I spun around and dragged my wedding dress through the foggy water to meet Raoul's awaiting boat. *** UPDATE 2020: Hello, all! I realized that this book recently gained traction in the fanfic world of Wattpad, again. Unfortunately, I wrote this back in 2014 and have yet to go through and edit. At one point, I planned on making a sequel to this. I don't expect to do so any time soon, but I appreciate the reads and the comments!

You hid yourself behind the "Phantom of the Opera" but I never saw a Phantom. I saw a man desperate to be loved, to be loved not only for his music but for himself. I thought Christine could be the one to finally show you that love since I was so afraid to do so. But not afraid of you but what I know you would say. Christine chose wrong, Erik.
