James Goldby is on the wrong side of the Civil War. Born into a long line of Georgia farmers, he's never lived without slaves. He enlists in the Confederate militia because everyone else tells him it's the right thing to do. But is it?

Josephine "Josie" Sherman is daughter to a well off, honest, and kind merchant. Unable to join the war as a soldier, she signs up as a volunteer Union nurse to serve her country as best she can. With a deep-seated hatred for "rebs," she wonders how God could ever be merciful to such men.

James and Josie meet when James is left hurt, hungry, and helpless in enemy territory. When the lines between grey and blue are stripped away, will they be able to find common ground? Or will a battlefield forever stretch between them?

When he steps out of the car, a 9 year old girl greets him and when her mom comes to see what the fuss is all about, he's met with the last person he thought he'd ever see back in Alcombey. Let alone with a child. Ryder and Sadie have a lot of baggage to unpack if they have any hope of being able to tolerate working together. But when his heart is still beating for her and her heart is locked behind solid concrete walls, is that even possible?

***UPDATE: I am super excited to announce that Tattered Gray is available on Amazon in paperback and Ebook! It's free with Kindle Unlimited. Reviews would be much appreciated. https://t.co/hi0M0qHCmE I will leave the first six chapters of the book here on Wattpad for users to enjoy, errors and all (I'm trying not to cringe), as I'm doing final edits. Once available, I will post the link for purchase here. Thank you all so, SO much for reading this story and providing me with invaluable feedback. It is 1864, and the War Between the States has brought combat to Desoto Parish, Louisiana. Seventeen-year-old farmer's daughter Luciana Lanton must try to find her father-or what is left of him-after the Battle of Mansfield. Instead of her father, she discovers a young Confederate soldier, Henry Asher, lost and forgotten after having been severely wounded in battle. Determined to not see another man die, she does her best to nurse the soldier back to health. It isn't long before she finds herself enamored by his winsome heart and controversial thinking, spiting society's definition of an ideal match. To complicate matters further, her mother insists that she instead be receptive to the attention of Beauregard Dozier, an unexpected but wealthy suitor with a questionable past, so as to ensure there is food on the family table. With her family's wellbeing at stake, will Lucy abide by sensibility or recklessly succumb to her heart's wishes, and will Beau's history intertwine with her future? Inspired by civilian accounts of the Red River Campaign, Tattered Gray is a story of the devastating ramifications of war, life in a society both prejudiced and volatile, and the chance at an extraordinary love in spite of it all.
