Lapis Lazuli is a girl who's been on the news for weeks. For being missing at sea. Students speculate she jumped, after being tormented for having anxiety. 
Peridot is a girl from the same town, who simply isn't interested. As an aspie, she simply doesn't have enough sympathy.
