Maeve Dawn can't remember how she got here. To this terrible, terrible land with nothing but war. She's managed to hide from everything and everyone for a few months. Until an old woman, Lucinda Lufelled, finds her in the woods and takes her in. Lucinda's curious- too curious. Lucinda tells Maeve of the terrible Fire Demons that have raided their cities and towns for decades, telling her of the tale of the Fallen Queen who is the only one to stop it. Along with the witch that created the curse. The one living as a queen in the Castle of Angels, living as the false queen. Maeve sets out to see the city for herself, somehow thinking that it's all a lie. The people that visited her in the woods- they were psycho not demons. Lucinda, obsessed and out of it, pushes Maeve into finding the witch to break the curse. Maeve, pure, yet not naive first protests, saying she isn't strong enough. She barely can remember anything, only her name, and certainly her past self wasn't an adventurer. But Maeve finally agrees, after tragedy strikes. Meeting someone new along the way, she doesn't know if she can trust him. Or the people who speak of him. He's dangerous, they say. Death is his only promise. Yet she can't let him go, or else her quest will fail and Lisyn and every other city will die from the Fire Demons. It seems that Maeve might be something different, something more than a girl who lost her memory.
