"Promise?" asked Emily , panicked grey eyes imploring under a frown too heavy for her age. The Doctor crouched in front of the young girl and held his hands for her to take. Her breathing picked up and she swallowed, but she grit her teeth and allowed him to hold her shaking hands in his steady ones, eyes determinedly trained on his face as she tried to ignored the needles that suddenly raced up her arms and down her spine. The Doctor gave her hands a light squeeze, promising, "I will come back for you." He grinned encouragingly, dropping her hands and tapping her nose. Racing back to his blue box and jumping up to sit on the ledge, he gave the girls one last wide smile and dropped down into the Tardis. "Geronimo!" •|• Work of fiction, blah blah blah.
