The last thing Alina Grey remembered was a masked man with red eyes. Then everything went black. When she wakes up in a strange lab, with a headache, a gnawing pit in her stomach, and a lot of questions, the only thing she knows for certain is that she needs to escape. After breaking out onto the streets of New York City Amelia-Rose finds that her face is splashed on every newspaper and billboard as public enemy number one. Since her only memories are of her name, those red eyes, and a man named Jax, she wonders who she can turn to for help. As the night progresses she discovers she possesses disturbing new powers, and that the strange pain in her gut is actually a special type of hunger. Alina realizes that she has been turned into fledgling vampire. She is both prey and predator. There are people out to get her. There are people she must track down to get the answers she needs. From now on, the hunt is her life, or actually her afterlife. Alina hopes it doesn't go on forever.
