"There is in the East, beyond the trick-spirits of the Sea of Pleats, a most-strange country. One that all who hear of it agree has lost and gained more than any kingdom in any place since the world first fell to the riot of those Old Disloyals."

And so opens Elsuon.

Two hundred years after a powerful sorceress, an undying queen, and a light-taming saint established a quivering truce in the Eastern Fortunes, a talented architect by the name of Branadan and his son Allesson enter the mysterious country of Nymiria.

In Stormscale, the capital, a hard-as-nails Archduke prepares for war.

As the centuries-old truce (formally known as the Passion of Aeolain) comes to an end, the seven great families of Nymiria contend for the Archduke's daughter, who, being of age before the law, must take a lord.

If she marries, it is one war; if she doesn't, it is another.

Other dangers are gathering: witches (Black Cast) who work twisted miracles; saint-despising separatists (Aeolistopalians) mobilizing near the Perch of the Gorgons; barbarians (Abareeds) on the march from the Sky Anvils; the Old Horde (Ghul Maraud and Puck Trolls) amassing in the Valley of the Moonseeds; and a foreign banking cartel (the Wounded Reliance) lead by a savior turned dark; and the arrival of a beautiful traveler from beyond the Keel of Stars.

The final omen: a strange mountain that has slowly turned for nine thousand years suddenly stops, angering the lightning-spraying, whale-hunting dragons (Karganoi) who have roosted there for millennia.

All this and much more gamble for the soul of Nymiria and the young life of a stonecutter's son-

Allesson.

Or, as destiny regards him-

Book 1, The Field Rat's Banquet - Complete Book 2, The Raven's Laughter Part 1: To Bet on Losing Dogs - Complete Book 3, The Raven's Laughter Part 2: High Flies the Kestrel - Ongoing The Field Rat's Banquet: On the western shores of Kliskorios, a King sits without an heir. With his three children unwilling to allow each other to sit upon the throne, and a realm unable to decide the legal successor, the Kingdom of Teleytaios, strongest of the Heptarchy, stands on the brink of civil war, vultures circling all the while. King Cordan's bastard son has proven himself in battle and rulership both in the last half a decade, though the coming challenges will put to test even the greatest of his efforts. After all, to kill an enemy is one thing, but what about his own siblings? There is no man as accursed as the kinslayer, so the saying goes. The royal daughter, ever a staunch traditionalist and dangerous opponent, stacks the cards and the court in her favour whilst her brothers, bastard and trueborn both, waste away far from the capital. With the masses of dispossessed lords and ladies of the kingdom at her beck and call, there are few who find themselves outside of her reach. The King's trueborn son, widely regarded as being mad and violent, will act as the wildcard in the coming feud. Whoever he chooses to support will surely triumph, though perhaps there is more to the youngest prince than meets the eye? But there is more to the rising tensions than a simple succession crisis. Ancient things are waking up the world over; Brythonic sailors let slip the things they have glimpsed in the Ouroborisian Sea in Anarian taverns, and the whispers of gutter rats and holy men alike tell of a cult long thought dead hiding in plain sight. And then there are the findings of the King's own bastard son in the northern reaches of the kingdom. When these threads coincide, fate may find itself rewritten by mortal hands for the first time since time immemorial.

Exile: The Book of Ever by JamesCormier

Centuries after the Fall, the United States has been wiped away. The crumbling remains of the great American empire are home now only to savage, lawless tribes and packs of ravening Damned-the twisted children of the apocalypse. Most of those few who survived humanity's destruction spend their short lives in a violent struggle for survival. But some light still flickers in the darkness: the Blessed of Bountiful live in seclusion, relying on walls both physical and spiritual to protect them from the Desolation that their world has become. Among them are the Saints, those few men and women born with superhuman abilities that the Blessed see as gifts from God. The violent apostate tribes of the Northeast Kingdom have always been a danger, but up until recently its small size and the vigilance of its people have made Bountiful an unappealing target. As attacks on the community grow harsher and more frequent, however, even the steadfast Blessed are forced to start preparing for the worst. With her home's very existence threatened, seventeen year old Ever Oaks, a Saint with the power to heal, is forced to make a difficult choice, one that may come to define her people's future... Exile was a semi-finalist in Mark Lawrence's Great Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off (#SPFBO). Fantasy Faction said it was "extremely cool," and Bookish Lifestyle called it "more than just a story, a journey and an experience." When I'm asked about it, I often describe it as "X-Men meets The Walking Dead." In addition to reading it here for free, you can buy Exile in e-book or paperback on Amazon.com.

But for Elowen, an orphan raised in the shadows of Elvendor's shining towers, the stakes are personal. Abandoned as a baby, she's learned to survive in a city that values power above all else, a city where she's nothing more than an invisible pawn in a game of magic and politics. On her eighteenth birthday, the Luminara ritual will determine her place in this world, either among the elite or cast back into the darkness. But Elowen is no ordinary elf. As the ritual unfolds, an ancient power stirs within her, a force older than the kingdom itself, pulling her into a dangerous web of secrets and lies. Caught between two worlds-one ruled by the privileged elves, the other by the fierce Vikings-Elowen finds herself torn between duty, love, and the dangerous unknown. Eirik, the Viking chieftain's son, should be her enemy. Yet his storm-gray eyes see through the label of "threat" that's been placed on her. But loving him would be treason. Denying him? A betrayal of her own heart. As tensions rise between the two kingdoms, a dark power awakens, threatening to consume them all. Elowen must navigate treacherous alliances, face an ancient enemy, and decide where her loyalties truly lie. But one thing is certain-she was born to shatter the boundaries of both worlds. Threads of Fate by LeeraIvy

The path fate lays before us is often many years in the making, and the tale of the Phoenix and the God-spawn is no different. Nearly 3,000 years before the war that would bring about Astaroth's defeat, another battle was waged to ensure there would be a future to fight for. Duty has been thrust upon Prince Azael Cadhael for centuries, first by filling the role of an uncrowned King, but his true story begins as all royal stories do: with a ball, a secret, and a peculiar dream. When Azael overhears the whispered plans of his betrothed and her twin brother to leave with the Phoenix on a goddess-given quest, he must surrender to a new type of duty entirely. Navigating his ever increasingly strained relationship with Tissaia Lochren while striving to save the future of his kingdom isn't a job easily done, and her closeness with the Phoenix, Kaius, certainly doesn't make it any easier. Tissaia has spent years in the shadows of her own failure and her father's wrath. Kaius's quest offers her and her brother Talarion a chance to claim their freedom at long last, but fighting ones' past can be just as deadly as fighting an armed foe, especially if that past isn't keen on backing down. If they're going to succeed, all four of them must learn to recognize the power in truth and bared secrets, as well as the strength in kinship. If they fail, it could mean the doom of all Asterria for an age. But if they succeed, perhaps fate will be kinder than they have been led to believe. Warning: This book, while being a work of fiction, still deals with real and mature elements. There will be chapters dealing with abuse, gore, PTSD, torture, sexual content, and other topics. Forsaken: The Chosen Trilogy - Book One

30 parts Complete Mature

Before you begin this story, I must warn you first. This is not a tale of dashing knights and lovely damsels awaiting rescue. It is not the tale of happy endings, with birdsong and rides into the sunset. It is a tale of light magic and dark, of dragons and monsters, of heroes and villains and the thin line between them. This is the tale of being broken, being made stronger, and then being broken again. This is a story of love of heartbreak so great if feels like your chest has been hollowed out and scraped clean, like you would never feel anything else ever again, and of love so powerful it can make even the gods tremble. This is not a happy story, but it is our story, and it is the only one I know how to tell. ********************** FORSAKEN is the first tale in the Saga of Darkness, following six brothers and sisters who have been named the Chosen of the Gods, destined to fight a great darkness that threatens their world. But evil wears many faces, and it will take the efforts of all- Kryssa, Brannyn, Lanya, Kylee, Alyxen, and Reyce- to survive the harrowing trials to come. ********************** FORSAKEN is a completed novel, being posted as a serial. Books Two through Five in the Saga of Darkness are also complete. Chapters posted every Monday and Friday.
