Book one in "The Cursed" Series Running seemed to be the only thing that Maīa was capable of. Running. She ran as fast as she could at the first sign of trouble, hiding herself away in the last place that she would ever be found. Cutting ties with her loved ones, and breaking for the ones that she lost. Even the faintest glimmer of hope seemed to be out of her reach no matter where it was that she went. Eventually, her past began to catch up to her. A past that had a far greater impact to her life than she had ever known. But no one can run forever. Soon, hiding away in her small corner of the world, would no longer be enough. In her heart, she was truly terrified to know just what might happen if she stopped. It was tempting to say the least, to see what awaited her on the other side of the fear she felt if she chose to stay regardless of the danger. Fear shook her as the weight of her reality began to come crashing down. She would have to return to the places and the people that she had run from. She would have to face the demons of a past she'd long since buried along with the bodies of her loved ones. It was the pandoras box that she was more than unwilling to open. Then something changed, catching Maīa's eye like a lightening strike whizzing through the darkness of the night. A slip up? Or maybe something she'd missed the first time around? She wasn't sure. But her blood hummed, buzzing with the energy she hadn't felt in a long time. And the closer she got to finding an answer, the louder her blood screamed at her to keep going. To keep running. But this time, she wasn't running away. She was running towards it, head on and without hesitation. Ready to fight, no longer afraid of the consequences. But it was so much more than that. She was running towards her demons.

I looked at him in shock, "How do you know that?" "I know a lot of things about you, Ms. Prior, even things you don't know yourself." Excuse me? "From what you can do," he paused giving me a look before directing his gaze back at the field. "To your eye color. Your parents have blue ones, so I don't see how that works." What? He continued without question, "You are still a mystery to us, as you have never showed any signs of power before, so it's sort of confusing." He paused for a few seconds them said, "You're different; you have an ability. You're a Supernatural." "Ok, I really need to go so..." I began walking back, but he stuck out his arm to block me. And that's when it happened. Flames rose on his arms, lighting them on fire. I backed up, feeling the heat radiate off his arms. I was in utter shock, yet he looked relaxed, amused even. "What the hell are you?" I jumped back, and the fire went out, a smirk rising on his face. "I'm just like you." ***** Kayla Prior has always been a popular girl, and everyone looks up to her.
