One thing you learn from a young age while growing up in Seabrook is to be normal. Anything else and you were an outcast. For Waverly, she was used to being an outcast. That was until a zombie and a cheerleader fell in love, and they just so happen to be two of Waverly's closest friends. It is also scripted a bit more maturely than the movie, the dancing/singing sequences are not added in and there is a lot of mention of bloodshed)
