Broken Barriers: A Mystic Academy Short Story

Silas and Terrence Masterson come from an ancient line of sorcerers. Terrence graduated from the Mystic Academy of the Arts, where Silas is a student, both having been put in Enchantment Hall. One night Silas realizes the dream world and waking world are no longer in balance when one of the most dangerous dream demons gets out of his dreams and kills his roommate. Terrence tells Silas the main dream gatekeeper died the night before without finding and training his successor, so for him to get caught out of bed since it is after curfew.

After being brought to the Headmistress's office, a girl from Nightmare Hall, Emily, comes to join him and the staff, claiming she needs to help. She admits she is Pyralis's daughter. Even though the staff are concerned, they agree to let her help after realizing Silas getting caught was planned by the brothers because of her father's presence on the campus.

The trio begin to plan how to banish him temporarily to figure out how to banish him permanently. With Samhain, the day when the veil between the worlds is at its thinnest, quickly approaching, will they figure out how to get Pyralis back where he belongs? Will a new gatekeeper be found?
