Shota Aizawa and Hizashi Yamada have been rivals for ages. Well, I don't think 'rivals' is the right word. They met as little kids, and Yamada has been trying to show Aizawa up since then, although, he always falls short.
Aizawa is always lost in his own world, and hardly ever notices anyone. He keeps to himself, and when he's not in his own world, he's busy avoiding people as much as he can. Except Hizashi Yamada, Toshinori Yagi, and Nemuri Kayama. Those are the only people he really hangs out with.
All four people live in the U.A. high school dorms. Hizashi, Toshinori, and Shota being next door to each other, and Nemuri being on the girls floor, which is just one above Shota's room.

With that being said, even Shota doesn't know what perspective is the right one. But he still keeps a journal with his own perspective in mind. Shouta Aizawa has always been a villain. it's all he's ever known, though it's taking a heavy toll on his mind, sending him down into deep, mental spirals. Shouta Aizawa takes notice to how his best friend, Hizashi Yamada, seems to be struggling with his past recently.
