[Book 2 in the CODES series] || Roger, a cybernetic human with a second chance at life, must face the truths of every lie he's told or risk the possibility of losing it all... ** A year after the "Digital War," Roger had his second chance at life. It was owed to him, a forgotten promise made eighty years in the past by the founding fathers of the Province's prospering nations. He and the other "Codes" left abandoned within the silent computers of every living city would be brought back to life... And have their crimes forgiven and wiped from existence. Yet, finding a home in newly created bodies isn't easy for the new cyborg citizens. The Province may have reached its desired Utopian climate, but society itself was far from reach. So many refused to forget the pain every "Code" inflicted on their lives... Roger hadn't forgotten -- he chose to forget. But as those secret plans made before his original death return to the surface, Roger learns -- just as the Province did -- burying the past doesn't help heal old wounds. ** The gun fit so perfectly in my hands. It's metal, still warm from it's last fired bullet, brought back so many memories I'd learned to suppress. I didn't want to be the man standing in front of them, I wanted to grow and change. But let society remind me of my place... "Roger, don't!" Clara's tearful face came in front of me as she tried to take the gun from my hands. "Please, you don't have to do this!" I couldn't look at her. I didn't want to see the pain in her eyes. "That's the thing, Doll..." I tilted my head back and inhaled sharply. "I've got no other choice." The sound of a bullet firing never sounded so nice... For this cyborg, power is just an upgrade away. Emmett was used to being caught between college and his engineering internship, but when he gets caught between a powerful hero and an even stronger villain, he becomes collateral damage. Instead of dying, he wakes up a cyborg. Turns out his boss wasn't just an eccentric inventor, and the old man just gave him a shining opportunity to be a hero. Except that's just the beginning, and things are about to get a lot more complicated. His boss has his own agenda. The boss's daughter has her own power armor. His roommate works for an evil corporation. And Emmett is small fry. Just a Class 1 hero. Half-organic, half-mechanical, and driven by vengeance... Beneath biomechanical upgrades and a titanium cranium built for destruction, Joaquin Herrera is a young veteran on a mission. Once an idealistic soldier, now scarred by war and betrayal, Joaquin wields his enhanced body-and his red eye of justice-in pursuit of the Ghost: the dishonorably discharged Army Colonel who masterminded Operation Ironhead, a black ops project that blurred the line between humanity and machine. Joaquin's office is a chaotic web of whiteboards and intel, pointing to the Ghost's nefarious schemes. But when he stirs up the wrong enemies, the voices in his head start whispering, and reality itself begins to fracture. The Ghost's plan is still alive. Joaquin won't stop until he shuts it down-for good. Meanwhile, Agent Martina Lessa is a brilliant but sidelined FBI investigator, buried in the farthest corner of her field office. Her career has stalled thanks to her Special Agent in Charge, but that doesn't stop her from pursuing the truth. BlueMoon, a powerful asset management firm, seems to profit from every disaster, while Black-Sun, a private military company, leaves a trail of destruction across the Americas and beyond. As political bombings and assassinations escalate, Martina begins to suspect an unholy alliance between the two entities. But her investigation takes a chilling turn when she crosses paths with a biomechanical vigilante-Joaquin-and realizes her theories are more horrifying than she imagined. Together, Joaquin and Martina must unravel a web of corruption, transhumanist horrors, and a conspiracy that threatens countless lives. As they grapple with ghosts-both figurative and literal-and confront their own demons, they'll have to decide whether they're driven by justice, vengeance, or something far darker. In this action-packed horror thriller, the line between humanity and monstrosity blurs. The cost of failure? The soul of a nation.

The first entry in my Thief-Lords of Chiaroscuro series. WARNING: This entry is novella-length and a lot more mature than my usual works as its an homage to cyberpunk and heist stories and features dragons. Contains violence, harsh language, discussion and scenes of pain, torture, imprisonment, sex, exploitation and slavery, most offscreen. Chiaroscuro. Far-flung future home of humanity, a shadow-shrouded city-world of forty billion humans and their bloodthirsty dragon overlords. And of course, home to the infamous thief-lords of the Free Sector. Akio Harper is the fallen son of a privileged family of the floating Stormstratum cities, reduced to scrounging and stealing on the streets of the lowest levels of the endless city of shadow and light. One day in the gods-forsaken Bone Market, he discovers an ancient artifact of flesh-glass that allows him to warp reality and wield immense power. Years later, young Akio has become the Lord of the Hellfire Horde and Master of the Demon's Tower, determined to put an end to the most corrupt of humanity, the crime-lords and the chattel-sellers, the twisted Dark Arcanists and the sadistic draqomorphs who voluntarily converted into creatures more akin to their draconic masters, uncaring as they see their fellow humans shackled and swallowed by monsters. At long last, Akio has a plan to get back at the dragons and stop their plans to truly become gods. Will he and his ragtag crew of oddballs be able to overcome rival gangs, endless security grids and artifacts from before the dawn of time and stop their murderous monster-lords in time?

Now on the run, Avia fled from a fate she considered worse than death. Zach, a former rebellious member of the social Elite, traded jail time for bounty hunting. With a relentlessness Avia did not understand, he pursued her across the galaxy. But Zach had other plans for Avia than turning her in.
