Instead I come to and I sit up, right away, a pounding headache bursts through me, it takes a while, but it passes. Kathleen had been imprisoned for years. She had no idea who they were or why she was there. Every day for years it had been the same thing. No talking or communicating with her captors after the first year she no longer tried. Getting beaten for making any noise at all. They didn't even speak within hearing distance of her. The nanites, which are highly chemically reactive organisms, are changing their bio-engineered purpose when dopamine levels are high. With a new generation of nanoids, stronger and smarter to fight the battle, the virus doesn't have a chance. Many attempts were made to create a man-made version of synthetic dopamine and each time the outcome was a disaster. Their goal is to create new generations, immune to the virus. These are called Purebloods, the offsprings of those who find pure love, the only cure to save them from a violent death. Running out of time, the Experiment entered in its final stages. To minimize the threats, the Colonies have sent their best soldiers to oversee the trial and protect its key subjects. If only things were going according to plan, or better...stay hidden. The day she turned five though, was the day everything changed. One kind guard set her free, she felt like a bird, she felt like she could fly and soar through the sky, to forget everything that happened in her past. She did for a while, but of course everything caught up to her. A year passed and White still remembered everything. From the smallest detail of the day. She was only six, on that day, exactly a year after she was able to escape from the Border, the only person that cared for her was killed, she was caught. She was back in bars, and the words that the guard told her still echoed in her mind. "Stay safe, stay alive," her life rules. And the years fly by, and still nothing happened. She was still trapped, caught, tamed. Caught in the act.... Tamed to fight.... Freed from her cage....

But getting this help came at a great cost. Once they're out and free, they realize the head scientist isn't letting them get away that easily. And he doesn't want his lifelong work to be out in the world just yet. So he'll just have to kill his experiments.
