"You're right", she said, sounding contemplative, "Maybe I should grow up and be more practical."

"Well...you know 'Princes on white horses' are 'fairy'-tales right?" Abhi said, air-quoting again. He was feeling relieved now that she was seeing some logic.

"Yeah...but...I sooo wanted it! A guy who could brave the most terrible storms to rescue me, the sparks fly when we touched each other, the fastening of heart beats when we..."

"Geez Siya! I get the point. I never guessed you lived in fantasy land! So in short I am exactly opposite to what you want?", his voice dripping of offence and frustration.

Siya laughed. How like Abhi to get offended by some hypothetical guy who she hypothetically thought was better than Abhi.

"No not exactly! But you are my friend Abhi, there's no spark!", she added with a hand gesture. Seeing him getting seriously irked, she smiled to herself.

"Oh God! Siya-"

"I know it is childish Abhi...", she took a short decisive pause, "and...that's why...I am ready to do this", she finished, her grin widening.

"To do what?" Abhi asked, thoroughly bemused by the variety of expressions Siya was giving.

"To marry you."

"Mr Mehra you are in no position to interfere in my matters. I could have handled the situation by myself without you getting involved in it. I am confident in my capabilities and I can protect myself without anyone's help. I might be living in your house but it doesn't mean that you have any kind of power over me and you should know that it was never something I ever wanted." I said to the person who was standing in front of me in all his glory. "Mahi even though living in my house was not something you wanted but as now you are, you are my responsibility and I never fail to fulfil any. I absolutely believe in your capabilities but let me make one thing very clear, don't expect me to keep calm when someone is trying to lay a finger on what is mine." Kabir said clenching his jaw and started walking towards where I was sitting. He came closer and his eyes were bored into mine. His intense gaze made it difficult for me to move a bit or speak a word. He leaned closer to me and my breathing became heavier due to our proximity. "Talking about the power, very soon you will know who holds the power, little lady." He whispered into my ear and looked at me with a smirk playing on his lips This person might act almighty and gentle but there is no way in hell that I will allow him to affect me in any possible way, that's what I promised myself but to my utter disappointment I was failing miserably. He was affecting me way too much than I thought and I am not sure If I will be able to avoid this trouble or if I am doomed. What will happen when the two not-so-perfect people will find each other in the most unwanted way? The fate bringing them together is a blessing in disguise or an unfolding disaster?

Completed on May 29, 2020. ~ "Ap...." (You....) Muntaha couldn't utter anything else as Faris 'shh'ed her. He grabbed her by her shoulders and turned her around. Their eyes met in the mirror and they stood staring into each others eyes for what felt like eternity. Muntaha couldn't handle the heat of his gaze anymore and looked down shyly making Faris chuckle. He moved all her hair to one shoulder and tied the tassel at the back. He then saw the golden neclace lying on the table. He had noticed she never took it off, last night she was wearing this necklace even though she had taken off every other jewellery and makeup which made him hide a smile. He picked up the necklace from the table and tied it around her neck. She, who was continuously looking down with her chin touching her chest, looked up when she felt something cold touching her neck. Her eyes again met his and this time she didn't look down. Actually, she couldn't look down as his grey orbs held her green ones captive. Faris then took something out from his pocket and handed it to Muntaha. She looked at her hand in confusion and realised he put some money in her hand. She questioningly looked back at him who kissed her temple and said, "Apna sadqa de dena." (Give your sadqa.) Crimson tinted her cheeks as he left the room leaving his wife in a whirlwind of emotions. The air around her giggled at the mess of a girl who stared at her husband's back with haya surrounding her. ~ This is a story about an 18-year-old girl Muntaha Saleem trying to follow her dreams. She's managing her grades as a scholarship student of a prestigious medical college. She's a know-it-all with a shy but sweet personality. Throw in Faris bin Zayyad Khan, the male version of beauty with brains. He's handsome, he's smart and he knows that. What happens when the both- the alpha male and the not-so-confident wallflower- are tied together in a knot by fate? This is my first story. Give it a try! :)
