In this world everyone has a number. The number cannot be changed even if you try to carve it out. No one knows why we have numbers but we have established a ranking system with these numbers. The system is messed up. How? Well when your born with your number everyone looks at it, it is publicly known. The number decides everything, if you go to school, what job you get, what family you get to be in, basically your entire life is determined by that number.
To make sure people are who they say they are they always have to keep their number visible. The number can be randomly placed anywhere on your skin. If someone can't see your number or you hid your number you will be put in jail, and depending on what your number is determines how long you spend in jail.
If your number is very low, as in the ten and lower range, you are automatically sent to jail. The reason for this being because with your number you couldn't even get a job and no one would want to marry a lower number.
This world is messed up but what world isn't?
There have only been numbers in the eighty thousand range, after that you are considered a new number. There also hasn't been a number zero, some believe it because zero wouldn't even be able to live if a number zero was born.
