Daisy, is in her Junior year for high school, 11th grade. Her parents have decided to let her move to ValleyDale, Alabama with her aunt Jade, to attend school. It’s complicating to be taken care of if your dad has a business trip across the state, and your mom visits the world to help take care of endangered animals. So it’s her only choice.
But, Daisy isn’t really worried about going to a new place. It’s because she’s been talking to her childhood best friend, Ethan Jefferson. Since the sixth grade, when he left her home town. That is until last year. Since the last time they spoke, Daisy remembers Ethan saying that he was moving to ValleyDale. And there is just one high school there.

"Little Valerie," said Kai, bending closer to me. "Are you blackmailing me into dating you?" He didn't seem particularly disturbed by the notion. In fact, he remained completely amused. "Yes?" Kai grinned. "Very mafia of you. "Would you like to dance?" the boy asks me. I stare deep into his blue eyes, but I can't figure out who he is. He's tall with dark hair and the brightest blue eyes I've ever seen. I know everyone at this school, but with his features hidden behind his mask I can't tell who he is. "Sure, I would love to." Did I just say that? I agreed to dance with a random boy who I don't know. He takes my hand and leads me to the dance floor. We dance for a few songs and then he asks me, "Would you like to take a walk? I know the perfect place." I nod and he pulls me behind him off the dance floor. We leave the hotel and start walking down a little path. At the end of the path I notice a little fountain surrounded by candles. I wonder if he set this up. We walk over to the fountain and we sit down on the edge. "I had a wonderful time tonight," says the guy. He reaches to his face and removes his mask. I recognize him immediately. How did I not know it before? *** Carter Bennett has managed to survive her first 3 years of high school. Everything has been amazing... for the most part. She had her life completely planned out. You know the old saying fake it til you make it? Well my best friend took that a little too seriously. Caitlyn came up with a crazy scheme to help me finally get the guy I had been crushing on for three years. Her plan was a little unorthodox to say the least. She decided that her and her boyfriend Colton should stage a break up so I could pretend to date him for a month. He was the quarterback of the football team and the most popular guy in school. She said dating him would make the guys at our school finally stop seeing me as a shy, undateable nerd. She said I would have my pick of any guy after that, including my crush Takashi. It was the most ridiculous plan I had ever heard of. There was no way anyone would actually believe me and Colton were dating. He was the quarterback of the football team. It would have probably been easier to convince the whole school that I was dating the President. The problem was, I knew she was right. It was probably the only way I could get Takashi (my crush) to see me as girlfriend material and I wanted that more than anything in the world. Plus, Caitlyn's crazy schemes usually worked and I was desperate, so I reluctantly agreed to it. The weirdest part of the whole thing was, her boyfriend Colton used to be my best friend before him and her started dating and she gradually took his place as my best friend. After an incident that happened years before, she has shut down and tries to keep to herself as she is bullied constantly. The Best Kind of Betrayal
It's the first day of June's senior year and everything is already going wrong. Her first boyfriend and supposedly love of her life dumps her for someone else, her heart is broken and feels like it won't ever heal again and her best friend makes her join the most unnecessary club on earth to help her find new friends she most definitely does not need. Still. New chances are for new beginnings, right? Instead of falling into a deep dark pit of self pity (however tempting that may sound), all of this betrayal ends up leading her to the best friends she's ever had and the most exciting school year of her life. Oh - and a whole new fake boyfriend, to get some revenge on that idiot who dumped her. And who knows. Maybe even more.

After my escape, and yet another but brutal last year at the same high school, my school sent me their condolences and made sure to inform my future college of my past. I didn't bother to say goodbye to my "friends" or Preston, my ex. The police allowed me to change things, including changing my name & hair, but other than that, I was still me. Once I got my new identity, I tried to start anew. Moving me to a new place was the best thing the police and Dr Matthews allowed me to do, but it still didn't stop this nudging feeling that kept coming over me. I don't know why, but for some reason, I could tell that my kidnapper (Mr Blue) was going to come back for me. --- On the two year anniversary since my abduction, the past comes back to haunt me. The only thing that's changed is that I'm not the only one on his Hit List. My friends are too. I was finally happy after what happened to me during my junior year of high school. Three amazing people helped me find my way, and I wasn't about to lose them to the same person who abducted me little under two years ago.
