What if Merlin wasn't raised by Hunith or even Gaius, but by a corrupt king intent on taking advantage of Merlin's power? **merthurish** (Also on AO3)Complete
Merlin's Son: A Tale old as Time • Merthur
Freya lives the attack, only just. But when she dies giving birth, Merlin's Son is born just before the Tears of Uther Pendragon, what will Merlin do to protect his child? What will Arthur do, when he finds out? Based of the series, but not completely. Featuring Merthur, Arthur 'not being a stupid prat', Good Morgana, Gwen and Lancelot and a whole lot of cuteness. Here's a snippet from one of the chapters: "I do not want your gold! I want to live without being hunted, without fear. I want magic to be alive again!" He said and Arthur grinned. He didn't even have to think about it. Anything for you, Merls. "Done." --- *Disclaimer* I can't take credit for the cover as I found it on Pinterest, I don't own Merlin either, if I did Merthur would be more than just fanfiction, all rights go to the creators. Merthur AU (Set around early season 4) Arthur Pendragon is the new king of Camelot having assumed the throne after his father's death at the hands of his sister, Morgana. The Druid advises the king to seek out the man, for Arthur's destiny cannot begin without him, for he is Morgana's doom. Merlin is a young warlock living in the small farming village of Ealdor. His life is quiet. He spends his days toiling away at the fields with his best friend Will while honing his magical talents with the help of his mentor, Gaius, the physician from Camelot who visits on occasion. When he meets Arthur Pendragon, he can't help but hate the prat. Of course, until he gets to know him better. Meanwhile, Morgana scours the kingdom for the sorcerer Emrys. Desperate to find him before he finds her. When her search leads her towards Ealdor, she's surprised to find Arthur there, and with a scrawny peasant boy no less.
