The Waltz of Inexistence

I'm a philosophy and theater double-major in college. This is a short scene I wrote for a performance midterm (which is why there are technical and stage directions written in). It is meant to represent humanity's complex- and seemingly intimate- relationship with death, both as a concept and as a process. I liked it a lot and thought I should share it.

This scene takes place at the end of the world. Everything is being swallowed by physical inexistence. Two people, Ruth and Jackie, have made it to the last physically existing spot on earth. This scene is their final moments together.
