I held him in my arms as his heart beat slowed. I could hear the sirens of the ambulances coming down the street but all I could keep my mind on was him
He didn't deserve this.
I didn't deserve him. He was too good for me.
I had the note that had my name on the top in his penmanship still crumpled in my hand waiting for me to read it. I slowly unfolded it with care and hesitation.
I looked at what the letter said as tears poured out of my eyes.
" I love you for eternity."
He loved me but I don't know if I will ever have the chance to tell him I love him back, to hear his laughter that could light up any room, to see his smile that made my day brighter, to feel his soft lips against mine.
I kissed his cold, clammy forehead whispering just barely audible...
"I love you too my honeybee."

There's this silence between us that stretches longer than it should, and it wraps around my chest like a weighted blanket. My throat tightens. My back was pressed against the wall, and our faces were merely inches away. He gently placed a finger below my chin and tilted my face upward. I tried my best to avoid his gaze. I was close to tears and did not want him to see me this way. I could feel him gently pry my hands away, but I kept my eyes shut, too embarassed to face him. I tell him while fighting back tears. "I'm terrified too. I don't know where we are going to be in five years, ten, or even fifty. But I do know I want to be with you. I don't want anybody else. I've never wanted someone so bad as much as I do you." He tells me as he holds my face and leans our foreheads touching. "I love you Evie."
