And yet she isn't just an ordinary girl with bad luck: Her ancestors are the famed and fabled swordmasters of Ilugatar, keeping an interdimensional gate shut and guarded to prevent it from getting abused by power-hungry individuals.

Without her knowledge, Mute got trained all her life to one day become the new swordmaster and, according to an ancient procphecy, also the last, the one to decide the interdimensional gate's fate for good.
