Let Me Hear You Say

"I know you know that I love you." He quietly said as he caresses my right cheek.

"I know." I replied as I lean on his touch.

"But we can't be together." My tears started falling and my heart was breaking but I still bravely met his eyes.

"I know." I saw the pain in his eyes. The same pain that I know is reflected in mine.

"I don't want to be confused anymore. I love you. Please believe me, I do. But I can't choose you right now." He began rambling while hugging me tightly.

I got out of our embrace and touched his cheek. Trying to etch the memory into my brain knowing this will be the last time I will be able to caress his beautiful face.

"I know. I understand. You don't have to explain." I replied.

"Please don't stop talking to me. I don't want to lose you. Let us keep our friendship strong. Promise me." He said as he placed his forehead over mine.

"Promise me Fluke!" He repeated while holding my face.

I held both his hands and mustered what courage I have left to meet his eyes one last time.

"I promise, my friend." I replied to Ohm with the brightest smile I could muster despite the pain I am feeling.

"Your happiness is also mine." I added.

"I know. As yours is mine."
