This is a 'Modern Love Story' fanfiction based on Eternal Love of Dream drama series/Ten Miles Pillow Book Novel, written by Tang Qi Gong Zi. The storyline would be similar to the drama but given with a modern twist. The novel will be set in a modern day setting, with no magic/powers involved.

Synopsis:

Dong Hua saved Feng Jiu's life when she met him for the first time. She was determined to repay his kindness. She gradually fell in love with Dong Hua, a person who is indifferent to everyone and everything and doesn't understand the meaning of love, in the process of repaying her gratitude. Feng Jiu loves Dong Hua but he doesn't know about her feelings and what she did for him. When Feng Jiu finally decided to move on, Dong Hua starts to notices her. He thought that she was interesting at first but he comes to realize that he has unknowingly fallen deeply in love with her.  

But was it too late? 


Flashback to Ancient times, Dong Hua Di Jun summoned the Elderly Fairy guarding the Stone of Destiny to inquire about his fate with Feng Jiu. The Elderly Fairy said that they have no fate. To go against fate, it will be a hard journey with hurdles and obstacles. However, the Elderly Fairy said that Destiny could change anytime. Dong Hua and Feng Jiu lived so many lifetimes without being able to be together.

It is the story of fantastic beings such as nine-tailed foxes, phoenixes and of magic. It is the story of sacrifice and eternal love. Ye Hua and Bai Qian first meet while she is a student, and he is a mere possibility of a being. She awakens him from deep slumber. They meet once more when she has been entrapped as a mortal (named Su Su), and he a small dragon, recovering from his injuries. It is in this lifetime that the two fall deeply in love. When Su Su believes that she has been betrayed by Ye Hua, she turns her back on him and leaves him forever. In their third lifetime, she is the revered Goddess Bai Qian, and Ye Hua pursues her from the first moment they meet and eventually wins her love once more. My story will be about the what if . . . what if Ye Hua had never met and fallen in love with Bai Qian while she was a mortal? What if there was no Su Su? I try to follow the show the most (because I love it to pieces), then the novel, plus Back to Chaos and other one-shot takes released by Tang Qi though with extra spiciness because Donghua being possessive, naughty and insatiable in bed tracks with his personality, don't you agree? Each chapter will have a note about when the story takes place if it's not clear. Warning: though there are a lot of sweet moments, there are also a lot of sexually explicit content (noted with a 🔥 in the subtitle). The What If? Chapters tells what happens if Donghua had died in the Starlight Ward in the show and the world turned to chaos, and Fengjiu travels back in time to save him. It has the same tone as the other one-shots (mostly cute and funny) but a little darker and more violent.

This story is about the birth and development of the best friendship between Donghua Dijun and his little fox. In my re-imagined story, I am attempting to give our beloved leads a genuine chance at love with their own thoughts, behaviors, and desires. Granted, life is full of misunderstandings, obstacles and karma. Donghua learns that being a heartless god has its consequences. Having been careless and inconsiderate with the hearts of those who had fawned over him, he'll find it difficult to fulfill his. At its very core, this is a character-driven story about healing from trauma and the growth of a deep and meaningful friendship. It also attempts to explore the coming of age of love and desire for each of them. Those who can't tolerate slow burns should avoid reading this story ;) They meet much later, (she never becomes his maid) and was not involved in the BQ/Su Su/YH situation. Xiao Bai is young and very innocent as this story unfolds. Donghua is arrogant and obtuse, though with more playfulness and tenderness in the style of The Pillow Book. His edges are much softer. This story will be based off of the drama Eternal Love: Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms. I love Mo Yuan and Bai Qian too much and their stories keep circling in my head with a bunch of what-ifs. In this instance, Bai Qian never helped seal Qing Cang's bell which sent her to the mortal realm where she met Ye Hua. This story takes place just as Mo Yuan is about to wake up and goes from there. I am not Chinese and I do not know all of the myths that are involved when it comes to this world. Please excuse me while I use some creative leeway that may not make complete sense as I try to fill in the blanks.
