Severus Snape is a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, he generally keeps to himself until one day when he meets Lily Evans the love of his life and his best friend.
He hopes that she will be sorted into Slytherin, with him but, the Sorting Hat decides otherwise.
She is put in Gryffindor to Snape's dismay.
After that James Potter continuously attempts to capture the attention of Lily, but to Lily, he comes off as cocky, arrogant and immature. This makes Potter determined to make Snape's life miserable.
As Snape grows more and more distant with Lily, he gets mixed up in the wrong crowd and is constantly tempted by the Dark Arts.
