━ in which a grieving hunter discovers
the true meaning behind being alone.
It was safe to say that Valerie Gilbert was perfectly ordinary in every way. She had two siblings, one of which was a younger twin, and two parents, both of which adored her endlessly. She grew up in a small town, filled with small minded yet fairly kind people, and went to a perfectly dull school.
Valerie Winchester, however, was far from normal. She spent her life travelling from town to town living in dinky little motel rooms, committing petty crimes, all while trying to save people from what was unknown to them. She was different to the Gilbert girl; a hell of a lot stronger, a hell of a lot tougher, with a steel cage around her heart and a bullet between her teeth.
It was hard to believe that the two were the same person, yet, worlds collide as Valerie struggles with the concept of her possible future. Did she want to continue hunting for the rest or her days, or did she want to settle down and escape the tragic ways of a Winchester lifestyle? She didn't quite know. But when death knocked one too many times, she knew she had to get away, even if it were for just a little while.
In the end, the Winchester-Gilbert girl ended up in Forks, Washington, where she inevitably would make her enigmatic mark on the homey looking town.
