22-year-old Vivian decides to do a little tour around European cities to discover and admire art all by herself. She has everything planned - enough money for train tickets from city to city and to find something to eat - but the lodging for the night is her biggest problem. Cityscape

Lessons in life, love and art in New York City. Freshly graduated from art school, Vivian arrives in New York City in the blistering hot summer of 1999 to work in the studio of a world-renowned artist Christine Mikkelsen. She smiles when the cab driver who picks her up at the airport tells her that New York is a city of contrasts, a city that can offer her every extreme: triumph and defeat, glory and hopelessness, love and brutality. But, over the next few years, as she carves out a life for herself in this city of strangers, many thousands of miles from home, she will realise just how true those words were.
