A power hungry king seeks out his fate, and is more than displeased with what he hears. He is to die by the hands of his daughter when she turns eighteen. His ambition took him this far, he wasn't going to let this stop him either. But when his pregnant wife gives birth, she brings twin daughters into the world. Only a minor inconvenience to the king. When he sneaks into their bedroom to quietly get rid of the problem however, both twins have been snuck away, leaving the king to live with a mix of fear and rage for the next eighteen years.
Meanwhile, the twins grow up separately. One, saved by the oracle who gave the king his fate, grows up in a world of nature and magic. The other, saved by the mother who knew her husband too well, grows up in a world of palaces and politics. The Caiye twins will meet when the only family they've ever known are killed, and their homes are burned to the ground, all because of the king who was filled with hate.
