Ashton Erley, steht unter dem tagtäglichen Druck unter dem vermutlich Tausende Autoren stehen. Was ihm anfangs noch Freude bereitet und seinen Ehrgeiz weckt, verwandelt sich später in Selbstzweifel und Angst.
Durch den immer höher werdenden Druck den der Verlag auf ihn ausübt, zieht sich Ashton in seine eigene irrationale Welt zurück. Die, wie er schnell merken wird, nichts Gutes für ihn übrig hat.
