The following extract is of the first three chapters of my book.

Set against the backdrop of a hypothetical global nuclear conflict at the beginning of the 1980s, The Observer follows Dennis, a member of the UK Royal Observer Corp, a military voluntary civil defence organisation whose wartime job was to monitor nuclear explosions and gather data for fallout predictions.

With war imminent as the Soviets and the USA battle in the Middle East, the story opens a few days before hostilities break out and with the UK descending into chaos as marshal law, road blocks and riots dominate the landscape.

Between shifts in his bunker, Dennis battles with life in pre-war Britain as well as a conflict of opinion with a wife who is determined that family should come before duty. Lost in the regret of boredom and estrangement from his brother and now deceased father, Dennis disagrees.
The terrifying screech of the sirens sound as the world is plunged into nuclear war. Now Dennis fulfils his duty alongside his two companions, logging explosions within their vicinity.

Disillusioned by the reality of war, his companions protest as Dennis reports every explosion to Group Control until it too is destroyed, leaving them with no further role to fulfil. Each person now faces their own demons as they wait for the fallout to clear. Dennis in particular has to fight his history of childhood failure.

One month later Dennis emerges alone from the bunker, riddled with guilt as to why he abandoned his wife and child at such a critical time.

Determined to find his family, Dennis travels across the ravaged countryside. He returns to his village to find it has been evacuated and with evidence that even this far from the cities the effect of blasts has left its mark.

It's the Max and Nux au that no one asked for. But, I write what I want! Anyway, this au is set in this time period because I am a lazy writer. So, Max is a doctor at his local hospital, pushing 31 with a habit of grunting in response to questions, and a bum leg that he can't seem to get rid of. Max is kind of a drifter, and doesn't usually settle down for long. But, after losing his wife and child a couple years ago, he's been in the same place for two years. Small town life is kind of boring, though. Max is doing what he loves, though, helping people. Then, this racecar driver named Nux ends up in his ER, smashed up from a bad car accident. Nux is....different. With buzzed-down black hair, robin's egg blue eyes, wicked scarification around his mouth and chest, he throws Max for a loop. Nux is a smart-mouthed, doe-eyed 26 year old that may or may not have a death wish. Just as Max is getting used to be getting called "Maxy," and "my feral," The rest of Nux's family shows up. Slit is Nux's older brother, and a single father raising his daughter, Furiosa. Furi for short. She is 8 years old, and missing an arm. It doesn't bother her, though, and her prosthetic arm is wicked it it's construction and functionality. And, even though Max hasn't been with anyone-male or female-since his wife passed, he finds himself liking Nux. And, Slit is another matter altogether. Max grew up around him, and had treated him a lot for various broken bones. But, even though Slit has these crazy scars on his face, and refers to things as "shiny and chrome" a lot, he knows what is going on. He sees and knows all, as he likes to remind the two younger men. And if Max ends up hurting Nux, then Slit and Furi will have him for breakfast. Max can't help but wonder what he's gotten himself into, but he doesn't mind. It's a nice sort of crazy, being around this ragtag group of people.

What happens if chemical warfare kills all but those under the age of 18 and the immortals? Then think what would happen if the chemical bombs cause some to develop powers such as telekinesis. But, others are not so lucky. Sure, they all survive, but some purely become what is commonly known as 'The Things' as they act on nothing more or less than pure animal instinct. All around the world people fractionalize to local 'territories'. Territory 14- based in Birmingham, England- is one of thirteen territories based around the world. Although all are different, both culturally and with the distribution of wealth, there is one thing they all have in common: they sure as hell don't trust each other. And, as people turn on each other Cindy and Adam realise that maybe the war they were fighting was not as clear cut as they previously thought. Coming across 14-year-old Juan, a Chinese operative from Territory 8, they realise that the other side are just the same as them. But, this realisation comes at a cost as they are rejected from their warehouse, which is in the centre of the territory's operations, and become the focus of a man hunt in the place they once felt safe. On a mission to solve the mystery of Ralph's schemes and on the run in Territory 14 Cindy and Adam are in for a whole world of trials and tribulations- and the odds just keep stacking against them. This story is now complete. However, please remember that this is a first draft and likely to contain errors. I just wanted this story to see the light of day rather than hiding in a graveyard of word documents on my laptop.

The first nuclear weapon has been unleashed upon the city of Hiroshima. The full extent of the casualties still remain unknown, as the United States Strategic Bombing Survey begins its assessment. America, who had previously shown little interest, suddenly found himself captivated by the destruction, especially with plans for a second bomb aimed at the city of Kokura now in motion. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ⚠️‼️: THIS BOOK IS BASED OFF REAL HISTORICAL FACTS AND POLITICS. This story may never be completed as long as I'm alive, so if it stops for like four months I'm probably dead 👍 A heavy procrastinator as well 👈👈 (If under hiatus I would say) Written by an Asian minor who is completely obsessed with history (specifically the USA's), geopolitics, and (fortunately or unfortunately) countryhumans, so I decided to mix them together. This would be more than a political book than drama, fiction, fantasy (countryhumans). BUT there will be chapters focused on countryhumans' lives specifically!
