Sir Guy of Gisborne comes back from the Holy Land, on his conscience the knowledge of having killed Marian. Appointed Sheriff of Nottingham in the place of Vaisey, he struggles to find a way to make up for his past wrongdoings, but it's a very hard task.
Guy meets again - after many years - Lady Violet of Chetwood, a childhood friend of Robin Hood; the widow of a man who mistreated her, the young woman has returned to her ancestral mansion and has always helped her friend Robin since he has been declared an outlaw, and therefore she's not well-disposed towards Guy, whom she knows since she was a child. Complicated dynastic events, however, will force her to approach precisely the black-clad knight for a marriage of convenience...

Will they be able to overcome pain, longing, and, finally the cruel Sheriff of Nottingham? Or will the legend end before it begins? ** "Hope, be it never so faint, bringeth a gleam into darkness, like a little rushlight that costeth but a groat." ― Howard Pyle, The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood - In the heart of Nottinghamshire, the noblewoman Maid Marian has a secret double life as a thief by night. She steals from the chests of embezzlers and distributes her loot to the poor. When she crosses paths with the self-proclaimed King of Thieves, past and present collide, soon forcing her to choose between loyalty to the crown and the law - or rebellion. Sir Guy has been hauled from Nottingham by Prince John's soldiers after Sherrif Vasey blames him for the lack of sufficient tribute monies collected from the nobles to line Prince John's cofferes. Sir Guy thinks that he is a dead man once he reaches London. And Vasey is now his mortal enemy--if he ever has the chance to settle that score. Yet when Sir Guy arrives at Prince John's court, he will find an altogether different scenario at play. And love and happiness might yet be within his grasp. P.S. Our fan fic story begins in the Summer months prior to the BBC's Robin Hood Series 3, Episode 5--and then the story continues through to the end of some of the events in Robin Hood Series 3.
