At the tender age of 5, Wei Wuxian lost both of his parents and his memories of the past. He was taken in by the Second Lady of the Mo family and raised him as her own. Living as Mo Xuanyu, Wei Ying grew up to be a handsome teenager. Unbeknownst to his whole family, Mo Xuanyu started practicing cultivation with his bestfriend Wen Ning. One unfortunate day, Mo Manor was plagued with vicious ghosts which forced his aunt to seek the help of some well known cultivators.

Lan Wangji was one of the well known cultivators his aunt called for. Upon seeing the pretty teenager bathed in sunlight, Wangji's heart leaped, remembering his mother's words about his supposed fiance and seeing the pretty teenager in front of him, Lan Wangji couldn't help but think 'Wei Ying, is it really you?'
