Racetrack had one role and one role only. Act as Snyder aka The Spider of New York's thief. With Snyder arrested, Race had one last job. The second he was finished with this heist, Racetrack would no longer exist.
Detective Sean 'Spot' Conlon knew he was obsessed with his archrival. Sure he might not know anything about the thief but he was determined to end their game of cat and mouse. It had been three years since he had first been assigned to the case and he was ready to bring his rival to justice, once and for all.
(This is based off Diamond Jack btw. Posted to my AO3 as well and I don't know if Sprace will end up happening but if it does, I'll tag it.)

In Between 'Hattan and Brooklyn || A Sprace Story
Racetrack Higgins was a normal Manhattan Newsie- more or less. He was Gay, but so were all of his brothers. He was Jack's Second in Command and had a rough past. He was stubborn, has anxiety, and is a good bit chaotic. Spot Conlon was not a normal Newsie. He was the King of Brooklyn, the Borough feared by most. Except for Race. (And a few others.) Said Italian blonde boy was actually a half Brooklyn, half Manhattan Newsie, as he sold in Brooklyn. Sure, Spot scared him sometimes, but not a lot. They were very different. Spot had brown hair, Race had dirty blonde. Race had been to the Refuge, Spot hadn't. Spot had brown eyes, Race had bright blue eyes. Race was strong, but easily outnumbered, Spot was strong, but wasn't easily outnumbered. One think they both agreed was that they cared for their boys more than anything and would do anything to keep them safe. Oh, that and that the other was cute. Or hot, depending on if you were Spot or Race. ~~ Excerpt from the Story ~~ "Hey, Race." Ace starts, picking up his cards every time Race passes one to him. Race hums, passing a card to Sling, then himself, and then Ace. "Do you have a crush on Spot?" Ace asks, still staring at his cards. Sling hides his smile with his cards in front of his face, stifling a laugh. "No." Race answers, his face reddening slightly as he passes out another card to each boy. Ace looks up at him. "BS." He responds, smirking. Race scowls at him, pulling his hat off of his head and smacking Ace with it, all while his face turns bright red. Ace and Sling laugh. ~~ ~~ (I do not own Newsies.) What could possibly make Spot so shaken up he'll hand over Brooklyn? What could make Jack so shaken he'd give up Manhattan? Only one thing: Race and David have been taken. But where? How? Why? But why do they care so much about them? Well, first we need to go back to the beginning. We need to go on their journey with them. From their first meeting, to working side by side in the strike, to growing closer and falling in love, and all the things in between, dealing with the problems their kinds face in the unforgiving world. But the whole thing is bigger than all of them. This isn't a fight for just Newsies anymore--it's a fight for love, family, friends, rights for all, and the fight for the right to exist in a world like this and the right to tell those stories. They didn't have a good living situation, if the dark brown spots that covered his back and slashes over his ribs were anything to go by. They were ambidextrous, and they had been cutting neat lines into their arms since Race was 14. Spot Conlon had a soulmate. They had bright blue eyes and were perfect, Spot was convinced of that.
