After a mass break-out of zoo animals raises suspicions, an illiterate boy uncovers a scheme to rid the city of all lower-class citizens... including him.

In a land where discriminations are common and technology evolves faster than the living, adapting to the system is a must. The arrival of a scientist-turned-mayor in Dogson City also further pressures the citizens with the introduction of Contributier, a system that records the citizens' contributions and sorts them into Tiers based on their accumulated points. Those in the Low-Tier are soon regarded as societal waste, while those in the Top-Tier are glorified and feared like lions in the jungle.
But chaos ensues once the local zoo experiences a 'zoo-break' on the mayor's first anniversary. And to further complicate the matter, several unfortunate citizens--including Allice, an illiterate Low-Tier boy--accidentally stumble upon carelessly spread-out secrets and schemes, making them the perfect prey for daunting human-faced beasts in the city.
Now Allice and his companions must break free from the swamped situation they've fallen into. Or their future lies solely under the mercy of the beasts in the mysterious land.

But fitting back into that normal life they missed so much is proving to be hard. Especially for Maya, who has a tendency to get herself in trouble and extraordinary situations ENTIRELY her fault. (She'd rather die than admit that of course) Old life brings the problem of boys, unwanted advances, homework, teachers and of course, a boyfriend with she had a rather uncharacteristic meet-up. Scott, Sed, Andy are her childhood friends all the way with her in this. Almost all the way. They didn't expect her to change or to come back at all and they are having a HARD time adjusting to the new Maya. She's dangerous, she's hot and she knows it. She has done a lot in the past two years that will catch up to her and stuff after that which refuses to stay hidden. Controlling CEOs, sensitive boyfriend, an obssessed boss is just the tip of the iceberg. And I'm not even touching the problems at her school. Will all this unwanted attention put her in trouble? They have to try it. No one knows what horrors future Hunger Games may bring, and the desperate rebels are willing to try anything. Meanwhile, in the mountainous regions of District 2, Cato Hadley and Clove Kentwell have trained their whole lives for the Games. Nevertheless, their ambitions change when they, without meaning to, find themselves in the Games together. They are both determined to win. But if they don't, what will happen to them? The brainwashed tributes who land in New York City know nothing of who they are or where they are from. They do not remember Panem, or the Games, or even their own names.
