Emma is struggling to keep a tough face as her sickness worsens, after all, she'd been through a lot already, how much harder can this be? It can't be more painful than losing her mom right after her best friend moved away and having to put the pieces of her heart back together enough to fool her dad, who's struggling to provide for both of them and pay the medical bills too. But what will happen when Max, a boy who lives with his mom in a small apartment on the other side of town comes bursting into her world at the same time as her old best friend, Ryker, who's struggling to be the man of the house, comes knocking on her door? Will they break down her walls in time to save Emma, the girl who's trying to save everyone else, or will she keep them out and drown while she gives away her last breath to save everyone else?
