Alice Lai is 15. It's the last day of school before the lockdown. She must now stay at home, an empty apartment where she spends a lot of her time by herself. Her parents work on endless shifts at the hospital (her mum's a doctor and her dad's a nurse) both engaged in the fight against the virus that has hit the world hard changing everyone's life. Luckily Alice has a great friend who makes up for her loneliness: her grandfather - whom she calls Bob - a hard skinned widower with a soft heart. As things start getting grim and crazy out there, her life enclosed within the walls of the house becomes an opportunity for surprising changes and culminates in her meeting someone remotely. His name's Skià, or that's his internet nickname, and he wears a bizarre metal mask. The doors to a new extraordinary but dangerous world are about to be opened.

Masks

This is the second book to Barriers {damirae} so if u haven't read that one some stuff in this one won't make sense so I sagest u read that one first. --------------------------------------------------------------------- "I wear a mask. Not to hide but to protect, protect people from getting hurt. It consoles and hides away all the emotions I keep at bay. I wear a mask. It is stained black and seeping through all the emotions I hide from you. Distorted and can't make out All these shadows that lurk about. But though the eyes you can see a hint at thy you can perceive. Nothing left... I'm inside out. And now i see that the mask itself... was meant for me. Sometimes you wear a mask for to long that you forget who you used to be beneath it all. In all this confusion one thing holds true, my feeling for you. So when I say I love you. I don't expect to hear it in return. I just want you to know I Love you not for how you danced with my angels. But for the way you calmed my Demons." ~ Robin
