Kai, daughter of one of the Underground's most elusive crime lords, is to be married to Hiro Ackerman, the only son of Kenny Ackerman. Their marriage will mark the end of a feud between the two families, changing the way crime operates in the Underground forever.

On the eve of their engagement, it is revealed that Hiro and Kenny have more sinister plans for Kai by Levi Ackerman, Squad Captain of the Survey Corps, Humanity's Strongest Soldier and Kenny's nephew-and the most stunning being Kai has ever set her eyes on. Seizing her only chance, Kai agrees to become Levi's apprentice and join the military, learning the forgotten art of the blade, disobeying her father's direct orders and leaving the Underground behind forever.
